Ryan Field: A New Vision
February 13, 2025
Northwestern University and our construction partners, the Central Street Consortium, share construction updates, project highlights and more.

Construction update from the Central Street Consortium

Rapid progress is underway at Ryan Field as the new stadium begins to take visual form. Towering steel columns, freshly poured concrete decks and carefully placed precast panels are quickly transforming the site.

The steel framework for the main concourse level has now wrapped more than halfway around the future stadium bowl, setting the base for the next stage — construction of the upper concourse, which is set to begin in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, an additional crane has been deployed on-site to place precast concrete panels, giving fans and passersby a glimpse of the stadium's future shape and structure.

With foundation work and underground utilities successfully completed last month, crews have shifted focus to installing essential infrastructure, including roughing in utilities within the future stadium building.

Residents along the Chancellor St. utility route that runs from the west end of the street to Asbury Ave. and Canal Shores will notice equipment on-site Feb. 27-28 as crews take samples to assess soil conditions. All work will occur during the City of Evanston’s allowable work hours and will not impact access to homes along the utility route.
